ABOUT THE JEWELS
Sahlia combines traditional metal smith techniques with modern designs and materials. Raw semi-precious gemstones, hand-pounded sterling silver and her signature recycled molten silver droplets are the core elements of the Sahlia Jewelry Collection. Paired with organic materials such as reclaimed leather, hand-dyed feathers and naturally shed antler slices create unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that are truly timeless.
Sahlia Jewelry is run using sustainable practices, taking into consideration all steps of the jewelry-making process, from concept to finished piece. All materials are purchased locally, reused and recycled whenever possible, always from environmentally and socially responsible sources. Each piece in Sahlia’s collection is entirely handmade in her Portland, Oregon studio.
ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Growing up exploring the beaches and forests of the Oregon coast, Sahlia discovered her love for nature and creation at a very young age. Her artistic talent was apparent early on and is something she’s been exploring through countless mediums ever since. Her first real passion for design started with her senior project on the evolution of Fashion. Sahlia attended the University of Oregon, where she had the opportunity to experiment with forms of art ranging from graphic design & photography to large-scale metal sculpture & mixed media installations. After graduating with degrees in both fine art and business marketing, she was hired as a product designer for a leather accessories company. It was there Sahlia developed her passion for designing art to adorn the body, and realized that she had something more to offer the fashion industry. In 2007, she launched Sahlia Michelle Designs, now known as Sahlia Jewelry.
