THE PROCESS:

• Your kit will arrive with 3 separate pieces of casting wax along with detailed instructions.

• Each wax piece can be used multiple times until you get a shape and impression you like. The final sterling silver or 14k gold cast pendent will be the exact shape and texture of the wax mold you create.

• You’ll send all 3 back to us and we’ll cast the one that will give you the best results.

Follow the simple steps below to create a memorable keepsake that lasts a lifetime.

1) WARM UP THE WAX:

Clean and dry your hands. Squish the wax around in your hands for a minute or 2 until it becomes soft and pliable.

2) FORM YOUR PENDANT SHAPE:

Roll the wax into a ball in your hands to create the shape of your pendant. For a disc shape, flatten your wax ball into a mini pancake.

3) CREATE YOUR IMPRESSIONS:

Place the piece of wax paper (included with kit) on a flat surface so it doesn’t stick. Then lay the wax disc on the paper and press your (or your little one’s) finger into it without moving it for about three seconds. You can also try rolling the finger from one side to the other (don’t go back and forth) to get a larger impression. Try different methods to see which style you like.

You should be able to see the print lines when you hold it up to the light (note that babies have a faint fingerprint and the print lines won’t be as visible). You can work each wax piece over and over until you make one you like.

Once you’re happy with the impression, let the wax set for a few minutes, peel off the paper, and place it back in its container. Repeat as many times as you like until you have 3 impressions. It usually takes a few tries to get your favorite.

If you ordered a pendant with a birthstone or diamond use a fine tip sharpie or pencil to make a small dot where you’d like it placed.

4) MAIL YOUR IMPRESSIONS:

Use the kit box and attached paid return label to send all three molds back to us. We will cast the one that will give you the best pendant. Once we receive your molds, the turnaround time is typically 2-3 weeks, but may be longer during peak seasons.

NOTES

• We make the mold of your wax piece then cast it in sterling silver or gold so the pendant shape will be exactly the same shape as your wax. Any rough edges, lumps, etc. will be there. Most people like the imperfect handmade look of these but it’s easy to give your disc smooth edges with your finger if you prefer a more polished look.

• It takes most people at least a few tries to get the print on the disc the way they want it so feel free to squish your wax and try it again and again until you get just the print you want.

You can also do multiple prints on one disc. It’s cute to have them next to each other or overlapping, so just play around with it.

• A good amount of pressure must be applied to get the print deep enough in the wax to show up. If you are taking the print of a baby or child, it’s best to try getting your own print a few times so you’re familiar with the amount of pressure needed to make a mark.

• It’s best to wait until babies are at least a few months old. Their prints may be faint for at least the first year but most people don’t mind if the lines are visible, it’s just the moment in time the tiny impression represents that will last forever. You can use any finger (or even toe) to take the print. If the baby’s print is not showing up enough, many people also like to take the impression on top of the baby’s finger so it shows their little nail, which is also very cute.

• If you’d like to add a diamond, birthstone, or multiple stones, you can let us choose the placement of the setting or, if you have an exact area you want the stone, make a tiny indent (a pen or sharp pencil works great) where you would like it.

THE PROCESS IS SIMPLE.

• We’ll send you three pieces of wax with instructions and a return label to ship them back to us.

• Then we’ll cast your pendant in sterling silver or 14k gold and attach it to the chain you’ve selected.

• The finished necklace will be shipped back to you within 2-3 weeks tops.
